Learning How to Treat Others with Human Dignity
Who We Are
GO-HRE is a global human rights educational initiative to inspire children and youth with a deeply- rooted
understanding of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to help serve as their moral compass. We are affiliated with Brigham Young University’s International Center for Law and Religious Studies https://www.iclrs.org/ and David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies, a United Nations’ accredited non-governmental organization, in special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council https://kennedy.byu.edu/
Our Vision
We envision a world in which the predominant culture places great value on the freedoms necessary to preserve human rights and human dignity. Associated with these freedoms are responsibilities which must be a part of that predominant culture. Experience has shown that laws, even constitutions, will not be sufficient to preserve these rights and freedoms if the predominant culture does not value them.
The Need
Human rights challenges are increasing worldwide while respect for human dignity is generally decreasing. Our goal is to strengthen families, communities and nations through education to foster cultures that respect human dignity. Teaching these rights to children and youth is central to a better tomorrow.
Our Mission
The “GO” in our name conveys our sense of urgency and action in providing educators in public and private institutions with interactive COLEGA instructional materials that provide an interesting, effective and affordable curriculum, with intuitive appeal to children and youth.
